Jung’s typological model has long been admired by astrologers for its uncanny resonance with elemental and modal patterns in the birth chart. In this webinar, we will explore the exchange between typology and astrological symbolism, not just to trace influence, but to gain a deeper understanding of how these systems illuminate one another. What did Jung add to his astrological inspirations, and what might astrologers gain by revisiting his psychological lens? As we follow this dynamic cross-fertilization, we’ll consider how typology and astrology together illuminate the psyche’s inner architecture. We’ll also reflect on Jung’s broader method, not one of appropriation but of reanimation. We can consider how he might have engaged symbolic traditions, bringing their enduring insights forward as living tools that continue to deepen and enrich astrological practice.

Max Black is a psychological astrologer and Jungian analyst based in Berlin. Trained at MISPA and the C.G. Jung Institute Zürich, he practices both astrology and analysis. His work stays close to the foundational ideas of Jung and psychological astrology, emphasizing dreamwork, archetypal and mythological symbolism, and the dialogue between ego and unconscious. He favours a focused, classical approach over more eclectic integrations, and lectures at the Jung Institute Zürich, IAAP conferences… and now, with delight MISPA.
