Mercury is the Messenger of the gods, and also the Trickster god, and in our charts it describes the part of us which gathers information for our ongoing lives – and our survival. Never being far from the Sun, it does this primarily for who we are aiming to be. It may rise ahead of the Sun, or after the Sun, and it may be direct or retrograde. It may be in the same sign as the Sun or the sign. Each of these positions tells us something significant about how it works. We shall explore these differences so to appreciate its paradoxical dimension more fully and to aid others to do this as well.
