We all have a relationship to money, and the terminology around it is both colourful and revealing. ‘Currency’ describes its circulation as a current of energy; ‘credit’ reveals our hopes in respect of future monetary status. The 2nd is a house where we ‘account’ for ourselves monetarily and survive through our own resourcefulness; the 8th is a house of trusts and mortgages (‘death contracts’) where the complexities of joint finances or debt act as a mirror for our experiences of emotional trust, loss and betrayal. Money ‘makes the world go around’, but a love of it is said to be the ‘root of all evil’. This seminar explores the symbolism of money, and how our psychology shapes our relationship to it.
